AS Saint-Etienne : Preparation, start of the final straight | ASSE News

After five days of rest, the ASSE resumed training at Etrat. Claude puel and his team have started the home stretch of their summer preparation, with two working sessions this Thursday.

ASSE: A busy program to complete the preparation

ASSE returned to the Robert-Herbin sports center on June 17 to prepare for the 2020-2021 season. Preparation under special conditions, given the coronavirus health crisis. After almost a month and a half at Etrat, the Greens took a break, just after the French Cup final lost to PSG on July 24. Back in training this Thursday, July 30, AS Saint-Étienne began the second phase of preparation which will lead to the start of Ligue 1 on August 23 against OM at the Vélodrome. This last phase will be marked by a friendly match against the Girondins de Bordeaux, on August 1, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. Claude Puel and his team will then travel to Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine) for an internship, between August 10 and 15. During this regrouping, ASSE will play two friendly matches, respectively against Stade Rennais FC (August 12) at Roazhon Park and against Angers SCO at Stade Raymond-Kopa, August 15.

A successful first part of preparation

As a reminder, the first part of the preparation for ASSE was marked by test matches. The Stéphanois beat GFA Rumilly (4-1), OGC Nice (4-1), Charleroi (4-0) and lost to Anderlecht (1-3). That is three wins and one loss. They then lost the final of the Coupe de France against Paris Saint-Germain (0-1).
