While other presidents of Ligue 1, like Jean-Michel Aulas (OL), deplored the decision to ratify the classification of the championship following the end of the season, the co-president of AS Saint-Etienne, Bernard Caïazzo, deeply regretted these positions that had already started in recent days.
“We were in the process of responding to a serious problem, a health problem. What do we care about the ranking, to finish 5th, 6th or 7th. We told them, stop, we are in the same boat, if it goes badly for one it will be bad for the other (…) We had a government instruction, we had to respect it, that’s all. Not sure that this calms the relations between the strong men of the two rival clubs …
