AS Saint-Etienne : Green supporters demonstrate with masks of Romeyer and Caïazzo as clowns | ASSE News

Before the kick-off of the match of the 21st day of Ligue 1 between Saint-Etienne and Lens this Saturday at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, the Saint-Etienne supporters once again expressed their anger towards the two presidents of ASSE by demonstrating with clown masks bearing the likeness of Roland Romeyer and Bernard Caïazzo.

“Today, the club is owned by two clowns who do not have the financial means to fight with the biggest teams in the championship.” In an interview granted a week ago to Progrès, Roland Romeyer, chairman of the board of directors of AS Saint-Etienne, did not throw flowers at himself. Eager to sell the club, he and Bernard Caïazzo, the chairman of the supervisory board, are struggling to complete the file. And are forced to recruit at a lower cost in the winter transfer window so as not to further deter potential takeover candidates. This remarkable media outing by Romeyer did not escape the Greens’ supporters, who were more angry than ever against their leaders.

“Romeyer-Caïazzo: the circus is over. It’s time to leave the track”

This Saturday, before the reception of RC Lens in the Cauldron (kick-off at 5 p.m.), nearly 300 members of the Magic Fans, one of the main groups of ASSE supporters, gathered on the forecourt of the stadium Geoffroy-Guichard with masks bearing the effigy of the two presidents.

To stay in the register of the show, several banners were deployed demanding their departure and an awakening of the players (“Romeyer-Caïazzo: finished the circus. It’s time to leave the track” or “Players, staff: the ball is in your feet to save us”). The supporters also cracked smoke bombs while chanting “resign direction” and “we want a team worthy of its audience”. If they are angry with the bosses of ASSE, they nevertheless encouraged the players of Pascal Dupraz before their match against Lensois. With only 12 points but one game less to play (the meeting against Angers has been postponed), Saint-Etienne is last in Ligue 1.
