AS Saint-Etienne : What contribution from Pascal Dupraz’s recruits? | ASSE News

L’ ASSE was strengthened this winter by 4 new players. Mahdi Camara spoke about the recruits ahead of the game against RC Lens on Saturday.

ASSE: Camara, “the recruits bring freshness and experience”

Pascal Dupraz recorded the arrival of 4 new players in its workforce at ASSE this winter: Joris Gnagnon (central defender), Bakary Sako (left winger), Sada Thioub (right winger) and Paul Bernardoni (Goalkeeper). Without great means to strengthen, AS Saint-Étienne obtained the last two in the form of a loan without an option to buy, from Angers SCO. As for the first two, they landed with the Greens, free of any commitment, therefore without transfer compensation. And that’s not all, because ASSE hopes to recruit a center forward who should be Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace, a full-back and a central defender, according to the club’s manager.

Waiting for the arrival of the next recruits, Mahdi Camara spoke out on those who signed. To the question: “Does the arrival of recruits in the locker room do you any good”, he replied: “They bring freshness, novelty and experience”. The former captain of Stéphanois also appreciated the return of Bakary Sako to AS Saint-Étienne. “He’s a veteran of the house. It’s good to be able to count on rookies. They bring new momentum to the team,” he said at a press conference.

Bakary Sako already decisive at AS Saint-Étienne!

Officially recruited on December 30, Bakary Sako has already taken part in a match for the Greens. He contributed to the victory of his new team over Jura Sud Foot (4-1), in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, by scoring a goal from the penalty spot (3-1, 82nd). As for Joris Gnagnon, he arrived at ASSE in November overweight and he is not yet fit to play again. Designated No. 1, Bernardoni should start against the RCL on Saturday (5 p.m.) at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, in the absence of Etienne Green, injured.
