AS Saint-Etienne : The heavy sanctions at AS Saint-Étienne confirmed | ASSE News

The FFF has confirmed the sanctions imposed on ASSE as a precaution, after the incidents against Jura Sud Foot in the Coupe de France.

ASSE without supporters outside until the end of the season

The final decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF), concerning the Jura Sud Foot-ASSE match, fell on Thursday 20 January. This, after hearing the representatives of AS Saint-Étienne, following the Coupe de France match played on Sunday January 2. The match was marred by violence caused by ultra supporters of the Greens. As expected, the federal body heavily condemned the Loire club: “closure of the visitors’ area outside until the end of the 2021-2022 season, fine of 50,000 euros and reimbursement of costs related to the damage caused”.

According to the details of the Disciplinary Committee, the sanction concerning the travel ban for ASSE supporters applies to all competitions organized by the FFF and the LFP in which the Sainté first team is involved.

AS Saint-Étienne takes note of the sanctions of the FFF

In the press release published on its website, the club of Roland Romeyer and Bernard Caïazzo indicates that it has “taken note of the sanctions imposed at the end of the investigation”. For the record, ASSE supporters had used smoke bombs and firecrackers during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, played at the Bram Sports Park in Louhans (Saône-et-Loire). Referee Bastien Dechepy was forced to stop the game just minutes after kick-off because visibility had become difficult.

The match had resumed after a twenty-minute break and Pascal Dupraz’s team had eliminated the National 2 club by (4 goals to 1). The Stéphnaois will meet Bergerac (N2) in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, on January 30 (6:30 p.m.), at the Stade Gaston-Simounet.
