Through a statement, the Federation revealed the sanctions imposed on the Greens, after the incidents on January 2: “In view of the events that took place on Sunday January 2, the Disciplinary Committee of the French Football Federation imposes the following sanctions on the AS Saint-Étienne club:

  • The closure of the visitors’ area outside until the end of the 2021-2022 season, a sanction which applies to all competitions organized by the FFF and the LFP in which the first team is engaged
  • 50,000 euro fine
  • Reimbursement of costs related to the damage caused. »

The meeting was stopped for 20 minutes, after the cracking of numerous smoke bombs, one of which was launched near the opposing goalkeeper. The facts were of course much less serious than those that occurred during the Paris FC-OL meeting. The penalties are therefore less severe.
