Six months from the end of his contract at ASSE, Romain Hamouma is considering retirement. However, he thinks about it to avoid having regrets.

Injured in the thigh and unavailable, Romain Hamouma was absent for four consecutive losses for ASSE. Despite this, he supports his teammates and the struggling Liga 1 team. In the podcast Off Field with journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, he discusses his future and considers the idea of ​​retiring soon. “I’m 34 years old, physically I admit that sometimes it stings a bit. The seasons are tough at AS Saint-Étienne right now, so I don’t know “, announced the Greens forward. “I’ll stop when I feel it’s time, I won’t force any more. You always have to keep the taste, the desire, the determination and the ambition. If we don’t have that anymore, I think we have to stop, ”he explained.

AS Saint-Étienne striker does not want to regret his decision

Romain Hamouma ‘s contract at ASSE expired in June 2021, the player was then leaving but was extended by one season until June 2022. Will this season be his last in Saint- Étienne where the Stéphanois decided to let the high-paying players slip away? “If I feel it’s over, it will stop. I don’t want to have any regrets, stop by saying to myself: “you should have continued” », replied the native of Montbéliard.

Romain Hamouma is the current top scorer in ASSE history, among the players still active. He scored 60 goals and delivered 47 assists, in 312 matches played for the Greens in all competitions. The versatile offensive player has been defending the Saint-Etienne colors since the summer of 2012, almost 10 years in a row.
