AS Saint-Etienne : “The new Museum has arrived!” | ASSE News

Closed for two months, the Musée des Verts reopens its doors this Saturday after having carried out a major renovation of the premises. Everything is ready to welcome the public?

We have worked hard in recent days and I think I can say that we will be there for our supporters. Thanks to the collaboration of our project manager, the company Les Charrons, based in Saint-Étienne, it is practically an “other” Museum that you will discover at the start of your winter vacation. All of the spaces have undergone a major scenographic overhaul, so our 600 square meters will offer new appeal and, I believe, increased interest. Everyone will be able to realize this from the moment they enter the Museum with a transformed welcome and the spotlight on the hundreds of players who have worn the green jersey.

What spirit guided you in carrying out the work?

The new version of the Museum responds to a particular need, with a more technological orientation. For example, the famous square posts of the Glasgow 1976 final will be better exposed with the added bonus of a hologram. At the end of the tour, visitors can also enter a large sphere to immerse themselves in the world of the stadium with a 360-degree view. And there will always be the possibility of taking a virtual penalty for one of our goalkeepers …

A more immersive Museum therefore.
Certainly because there will also be digital quizzes on the players, on the teams, on the shirts and knowledge tests, with immediate results. But the Museum will also be more spectacular and warmer. I insist on this theme because it is close to my heart: it will release this supplement of soul which is the strength and the richness of the history of AS Saint-Étienne which, I remind you, was the first French club to have a dedicated Museum confirming its role as a pioneer in national football.

"Le Musée sera aussi plus spectaculaire et plus chaleureux"

Any other news?
We have created a space for Robert Herbin, who died in April 2020 in the midst of the first wave of Covid. A display case brings together several vivid memories, for example one of his jerseys worn during the 1971-1972 season, a replica of the 1968 Coupe de France that he won brilliantly, as captain, against Bordeaux (2-1). and his trophy rewarding his title of best French coach 1976.

Are the swimsuits in the spotlight, like when the Museum opened in December 2013?

More than 150 worn jerseys are presented in renewed showcases, with some original pieces such as the Yves Triantafilos jersey worn against Ruch Chorzow in 1975, that of René Domingo for his only selection for the French team against England in November 1957, that of Hervé Revelli during the 1968-1969 season and therefore, many others!

Did you collect more recent parts?
Yes, a lot of shirts in the period 2013-2019 when the club made 42 European Cup appearances. Fans will find the tunic worn by Loïc Perrin during the Coupe de la Ligue final in 2013, as well as Jérémie Janot’s Spiderman jersey and even that of the 100th ASSE European Cup match worn by Jérémy Clément. in 2015. But I am not forgetting the temporary exhibition which highlights the formative dimension of the club, which has promoted so many young players… Finally, the ultimate wink: we had the bust of a Panther, emblem of the club, which sits in front of a table retracing the evolution of the logo of the Greens. Between past and modernity, the Museum does honor to ASSE and, I hope, will make its supporters proud.

Take advantage of an exclusive offer: get your admission ticket to the Musée des Verts by purchasing your seat for ASSE-Nantes + € 4 (instead of € 7). Entrance to the museum valid from December 22 to January 31.
