Despite the win against Clermont, ASSE is still just as fragile with its 19th place and only one success since the start of the season. Nevertheless, Claude Puel has retained the confidence of his managers, and the Saint-Etienne manager will certainly continue to field such a young team in every game. Local players often have their chance, and it’s not Aïmen Moueffek who is going to complain about it. The versatile midfielder, a member of the Gambardella generation who won the Coupe de France in his category in 2019, set down in Saint-Etienne at the age of 11. A pure child of the club, who could however have known the same thing with the Lyon rival. In an interview with ASSE TV, Aïmen Moueffek gave a little confidence, explaining that OL also wanted to sign him when he decided to go further in his young career.
OL forget it and come back too late
“ OL wanted me to go to them, Saint-Étienne too. My parents made the choice to come to Saint-Étienne and I don’t regret it ”, underlined the young midfielder on the TV channel of the Forez club. At the time, Moueffek had indeed been tested by Lyon without having any direct proposal. ASSE took the opportunity to try the player and get him signed quickly. For the record, the leaders of OL then returned to the young Saint Etienne to recover him, without success. It’s impossible to make history again, for a player who doesn’t want to put into perspective the standings of the two teams or the importance of the two clubs today. But it is true that for his early career, Moueffek has playing time at a Ligue 1 club in Saint-Etienne that it would probably have been more difficult to find at OL.
