AS Saint-Etienne : D1 Arkema: Audrey Chaumette: “The wind will turn” | ASSE News

How do you judge the evolution of the club since your arrival in 2011 and, more generally, that of women’s football in France?

The evolution of AS Saint-Étienne is in perfect harmony with the development of women’s football at the national level. We benefit from better visibility, increased communication, as evidenced by today’s press conference. We are more followed and we have more substantial resources. There is still a lot of things to do but I believe that we are going in the right direction.

Did doubt creep into people’s heads after the three consecutive losses, including two at home?

No, we must learn from these defeats, analyze them, consider that we learn from our failures. We have specific and clearly defined objectives that we must achieve. To achieve this, we must erase these little details that hurt and penalize us. We have to be more realistic, more robust in both surfaces.

Gommer ces petits détails qui font mal et nous pénalisent.

VSow do you personally live this delicate period with a reduced playing time?

Obviously, it’s a little complicated time to live and manage when you play less. However, the season is still long and I know from experience that we will need everyone. I work to keep myself ready and performing whenever the staff calls on me. It’s up to me to earn my place. When you are in the attacking position, the job is sometimes ungrateful but I’m prepared for it. Against PSG or Lyon, you know that you will undoubtedly be weaned from balloons, that you will have to make great defensive efforts. Against Soyaux, on Saturday, I will potentially have more opportunities. If the opportunity arises, then, I will have to seize my chance and be decisive.

Did you imagine such a complicated season when you scored the fourth goal of the victory against Dijon (4-0) from the third day of the championship?

For the moment, we are paying cash for our mistakes but we continue to work in order not to reproduce them again. I am convinced that the tide will turn. Against Montpellier, we had a successful match but we gave in (1-2). We missed three minutes … Faced with Fleury (0-4), we were present, before conceding a goal from nowhere. He hurt us. We took a hit on the head and struggled to get off on the right foot.

Is maintenance still a reasonable goal?

Sure. From Saturday, we will tackle a series of three matches against direct competitors in our championship. We will approach it like all the others. With the same motivation, with ambition and intentions. It will be an important meeting but I do not think that we can already speak of a turning point. We will only be a third of the championship.

How is the interim of Ludovic Chirat who replaces Jérôme Bonnet currently plagued by health problems?

First of all, I want, on behalf of the whole group, to show our support for Jérôme with whom we talk regularly. However, Jérôme and Ludovic complement each other perfectly. This is what means that when Ludovic took up the torch, we were not disturbed. We kept the balance, each bringing his stone to the building.
