AS Saint-Etienne : D1 Women: winner of Saint-Etienne, PSG continues its perfect course | ASSE News

The victory was more narrow than expected but it is there. PSG defeated AS Saint-Etienne (2-0) this Sunday at noon at Camp des Loges thanks to goals from Sara Däbritz and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. A sixth success in six league games for the Parisiennes (the series climbs to eight including the Champions League), all without conceding a goal, which allows them to hang on to Olympique Lyonnais, winner at the same time from Montpellier (5-0).

Physically blunted by the sequence of meetings every three days, Didier Ollé-Nicolle’s players struggled to gain the upper hand over a Saint-Etienne team that was well organized defensively. The light came from the right lane of Kadidiatou Diani, decisive passer for Däbritz’s opener. The German midfielder, found on the edge of the box, sent the ball into the top corner with a precise strike (43rd) just before the break.

The Parisian difficulties continued after returning from the locker room. And it was on a free kick that the gap widened. This time, Däbritz, very fit this season, turned into a passer for the head of Marie-Antoinette Katoto (67th), who never stops scoring. The 22-year-old forward has scored her seventh goal in her last four games in D1, where she is the top scorer. Without the crossbar, Däbritz could have scored a brace (89th).

It feels good before the international break

“We had a good team in front, summarizes Grace Geyoro, the captain. We were less effective today but the victory is at the end, that’s the main thing. We had to remain patient ”. The success is less broad than the first three outings at home (5 goals on average per game). But it allows Paris to approach the international break by staying in second place in the standings. Lyon swept Montpellier at home and keeps the lead thanks to a better goal difference (+ 27 against + 20).

PSG will meet in Dijon on October 31 before a series of shocks against Real Madrid (November 9 in Paris, November 18 in Spain) and Lyon (November 13).
