AS Saint-Etienne : Zaydou Youssouf in Naples, the verdict is in | ASSE News

Solicited by the SSC Naples at the end of the transfer window, Zaydou Youssouf, midfielder of ASSE, will not join the transalpine club. And for good reason, the Campania-based team is now in the process of recruiting a former Ligue 1 player.

ASSE: Anguissa preferred to Youssouf by Naples

With one day before the end of the summer transfer window, ASSE have yet to sign a single new player due to lack of funds. In the direction of the departures, Zaydou Youssouf was courted by the SSC Naples and therefore on the departure of AS Saint-Étienne. But hours before the transfer market closed, the Italian club turned to another player who moved to Ligue 1. According to reports from Di Marzio, a journalist at Sky Sport Italia, Napoli went to great lengths to recruit Zambo Anguissa (25 years old), before Tuesday midnight.

The source understands that Serie A club management and Fulham FC have already agreed to the loan of the former OM midfielder. The latter is announced for a medical visit in Italy on Monday, before the official signing of his new contract. Zambo Anguissa is expected to be loaned out for the 2021-22 season, with a buyout option. Consequently, the Zaydou Youssouf trail is immediately closed.

No big sale with Zaydou Youssouf this summer

Too bad for the Stéphanois who hoped to make a big sale at the end of the transfer window, as in previous seasons with central defenders William Saliba and Wesley Fofana, sold respectively to Arsenal (30 M €) in June 2019 and Leicester City (35 M €) in October 2020. Finally, Zaydou Youssouf should remain at ASSE where his contract is valid until the end of June 2023. He will thus be able to continue his progression with the Greens, which would raise his rating assessed to € 5 million on the transfers.
