AS Saint-Etienne : The Robert-Herbin Sports Center inaugurated | ASSE News

Today Monday, September 13, the AS Saint-Étienne training center officially became the Robert-Herbin Sports Center. Ranked among the very best in France, the Saint-Etienne training center, which has offered many talents to football over the decades, will proudly bear the name of its legendary player and coach who died on April 27, 2020.

In the presence of former Greens and the Herbin family, President Roland Romeyer unveiled a wall fresco decorated with four representations of the Sphinx, created by the Saint-Etienne artist Azote. A commemorative plaque will also adorn the front of the training center.

A tribute to the height of the mark left by Robert Herbin in the history of the Forez club. Because, after having won five titles of Champion of France (1964, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1975) and three Cups of France (1962, 1968 and 1970) as a player then captain, Robert Herbin, who became a trainer, had permanently places training at the heart of AS Saint-Étienne’s DNA. With a team made up of young players trained in its center, the Greens of Robby had won the hearts of all French people thanks to their European epic of 1976, their four titles of Champions of France (1974, 1975, 1976 and 1981) and three French Cups (1974, 1975 and 1977).
