A 44-year-old man was arrested this Thursday afternoon, September 9 in Saint-Etienne, after pretending to be a false police officer.
The facts took place in the Center Deux district. While driving, a man cut off the road to another vehicle. Wearing an orange armband, he ordered the driver to show his driving license by claiming to be a police officer. Bad luck for this fake agent, it was a (real) patrol of plainclothes police!
As he tried to escape on foot, he was quickly arrested and taken into custody.
Placed in police custody for “false use”, this employee of a cleaning agency faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 375,000 euros.
