AS Saint-Etienne : Saint-Étienne v Nice match summary, 25/09/2021, Ligue 1 | ASSE News

ASSE – Nice (0-3), the Aiglons push the Greens

OGC Nice took it to the Chaudron this Saturday. A result which adds to the misfortunes of the Greens.

AS Saint-Etienne is at its worst. While their future is currently being played out behind the scenes, the Foréziens see their situation worsening game after game. This was again the case this Saturday following the setback suffered at home against Nice (0-3). Yet the Claude Puel gang was once again not ridiculous. But, when nothing goes …

The Greens continue to eat their black bread

The fault of the Foréziens was to miss their start of the match, otherwise they could have hoped to glean at least one point against the Gym. During the first few minutes, they moved too low on the field, offering too much ammunition to their opponents. The first two signed, Kamara (7th) and Gouiri (8th), did not give anything, but the third ended in the background. A free kick from Amine Gouiri (15th), countered by the wall and who ended up in the back.

At 0-1, the locals recovered. Their audience helped them by encouraging them despite this failed start. But, and as is often the case with teams in full freefall, success was not forthcoming. Before the break, Krasso missed an equalizer, not framing his header closely.

The Merciless Gym with its host of the day

In the second half, ASSE tried to confirm their recovery, but a second goal, conceded after an individual error, saw through the legs of the locals. The fault came from young goalkeeper Stefan Bajic, who made a poor clearance. The Dutchman Clavin Stengs took the opportunity to fix it and slam his first achievement in Ligue 1. Cruel for the replacement of Etienne Green, who had been solid until then, winning in particular a face to face with Gouiri during the 1st act .

It was 0-2 but Saint-Etienne was not at the end of its troubles. In the 83rd minute, the Greens conceded a third goal. Andy Delort came to punish them by taking advantage of an excellent center of the re-entrant Da Cunha. Mass was said and the Foréziens had only eyes to cry on.

With this setback, the 5th in 8 games, ASSE is more last than ever in the standings. And the next game will see this team challenge OL in the derby. Nice, for its part, is back on the podium and counting one point withdrawn and also one game less. The French Riviera team can definitely have high ambitions for the rest of the season.
