AS Saint-Etienne : Saint-Étienne: a branch of the XV school to fight against dropping out of school | ASSE News

The purpose of the XV school is to help college students in difficulty. Present in the South, in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, a third branch will open in January 2022 with us, in Saint-Étienne.

Already established in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, a third pole will open in January 2022, in Saint-Étienne. This school of XV aims tosupport children with educational difficulties and from difficult neighborhoods. They are welcomed and followed from CM2 to 3, so that they do not drop out of the education system.

One companion for four children

In Saint-Étienne, if the “district” that will be targeted has yet to be determined, we know that 40 to 50 children will be able to benefit from the device. The methodology is well established and similar to all branches.

We welcome children after school, so after school. It is an accompaniment of 12 hours per week, in addition to the lessons, so it is a real investment for the children.“, explains the secretary general of the school of XV, Frédéric Paquet, a man well known to Stéphanois, since he was the director general of ASSE during the passage of Jean-Louis Gasset.”We are really on an accompaniment and an almost individualized program since we have an accompaniment for four children“.

Listening and sport

As its title suggests, the program combines education and sport. “We rely on three highlights. An obviously school time, with homework help and tutoring. A social time, with discussion with them, we take the time to exchange, we eat and taste with them. And then the third axis is sport, a tool that is part of teaching to help these children to have better self-esteem and a better relationship with others and with learning.“, advances Frédéric Paquet.

Cost of the program: 5,000 euros per child and per year. The family only pays 25 euros for a year. The rest is supported by the town hall (editor’s note, up to 20%) and private funding.
