AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE mourned by the disappearance of Louis Granjon | ASSE News

It is with great sadness that AS Saint-Étienne has learned of the death of Louis Granjon, player and administrative manager of the ASSE Cœur-Vert Aésio wheelchair football team, at the age of 27. Suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy which made him gradually lose his autonomy, Louis made his disease a real struggle and this from a young age.

When in 2016, the ASSE Cœur-Vert association and its partner Eovi Mcd mutuelle created a wheelchair football team integrated into AS Saint-Étienne, Louis, a lover of the Greens, saw this project as a way of dealing with his handicap a real strength. Armchair football was a second therapy that allowed him to escape in his daily life which was sometimes fraught with pitfalls. He is fully involved and participates in the promotion of this discipline among supporters.

With the Greens, Louis performed well, leading the ASSE Cœur-Vert Aésio wheelchair football team to two climbs in two seasons. The performance of the Greens was all the more remarkable as ASSE Cœur-Vert Aésio was both the youngest team in the D3 championship and the least experienced at this level.

Louis was also an example of generosity. He created his charity “Louis Fort et Vert” which, since 2016, has been financing equipment for people with disabilities.

AS Saint-Étienne offers its most sincere condolences to Louis’ family and loved ones and thinks very hard of his teammates and his trainer Pascal Brousmiche.
