AS Saint-Etienne : Claude Puel (ASSE) says yes to a recruitment of M’Baye Niang (Rennes), then no | ASSE News

M’Baye Niang and Saint-Étienne, it will not happen, definitely. Last October, the Senegalese striker left to join the Greens but the deal had collapsed. At the end of January, his name had still circulated on the Saint-Etienne side.

And in this end of the transfer window, while he has two years of contract left and he is no longer in the plans of the Breton club, discussions between Rennes and the Greens have almost succeeded. Niang would have been left free with a percentage on resale. But the Stéphanois coach Claude Puel, initially favorable, changed his mind on Tuesday. Niang (26), a time courted by Venice (ITA) in July, is therefore still from Rennes.

In these last hours of transfer window, if echoes linked him to Montpellier, the starting solutions could be located abroad. But he could well stay in Rennes beyond August 31.
