AS Saint-Etienne : Sale, a big asset of the Bodmer project highlighted | ASSE News

The ASSE and FC Nantes are coveted. While the Greens are officially on sale, the Canaries are not. Comparing the situation of the Loire club and that of the Cité des Ducs, Christophe Pignol, former player, mentioned a major asset in the file Mathieu Bodmer, relative to the project led by Mickaël Landreau in Nantes.

ASSE: Pignol, “the advantage is that presidents are sellers”

Mathieu Bodmer is the bearer of a project to take over ASSE, a club put on sale by the two owners. Just like Mickaël Landreau, one of the faces of the “Collectif Nantais” project which wishes to buy FC Nantes from the hands of its owner Waldemar kita. The latter, however, is not a seller. Christophe Pignol therefore believes that Mathieu Bodmer’s project has a better chance of success than that of his former Canaries teammate (1996-1997), Mickaël Landreau.

“I am certain, with the rich economic fabric that exists in the plain of Forez, that the people of Stéphane can reproduce the model of the“ Collectif Nantais ”. The advantage of a plan to take over AS Saint-Étienne is that the co-presidents are sellers “, explained the former Stéphanois and ex-Nantais, in Progress. As a reminder, Christophe Pignol (51) played at ASSE between 1987 and 1991, then at FC Nantes from 1993 to 1997.

Loïc Perrin, the best ambassador for a takeover project

According to the latter, the best ambassador to bring a buyout project to Sainté is Loïc Perrin, emblematic captain of the Saint-Etienne club. The 35-year-old defender retired at the end of the 2019-2020 season, after 17 consecutive seasons in the Greens jersey. “At ASSE, the equivalent of Mickaël Landreau could be Loïc Perrin”, he estimated. “He is the ideal person to carry such an action and it would suffice for him to be scammed by a local entrepreneur. Loïc is the current best ambassador for the Saint-Etienne club. It combines all the qualities that we praise in Saint-Étienne “, explained Christophe Pignol.
