For its first preparatory meeting, the Aquitaine club defeated amateurs on a penalty from Jimmy Briand (67th). Promoted to Ligue 1 for the first time in its history, Clermont was held in check by Rodez (2-2), a Ligue 2 club, with goals from Jason Berthomier and Jordan Tell.
