AS Saint-Etienne : A young talent leaves Lyon and signs in Sainté | ASSE News

While waiting for his first reinforcement for the professional team, the ASSE attracted a young up-and-coming player from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to Etrat.

ASSE: Nathan Mouton signs for AS Saint-Étienne!

ASSE is still awaiting its first professional summer recruit. In the meantime, the Saint-Etienne recruiters are working hard to strengthen the academy with promising young talents. Thus, a hopeful player from Lyon has signed for the Greens. His name is Nathan Mouthon and disembarks from FC Lyon 1893. “Congratulations to our Rouge & Blanc Nathan Mouton, U13 player (Generation 2008) who signs with AS Saint-Étienne. We wish him the best “, officially announced the Lyon training. The 13-year-old will therefore continue his apprenticeship at the Greens training center. His arrival thus confirms ASSE’s sports policy, which is always focused on the detection, training and promotion of young talents.

Saliba and Fofana, the latest success stories

As a reminder, the Loire club is ranked among the best training clubs in Ligue 1. It is a club that promotes the most players from its academy. Players like Faouzi Ghoulam (30 years old, Napoli), Joshua Guilavogui (30 years old, VfL Wolsburg) or Kurt Zouma (Chelsea) have been trained at ASSE. In recent seasons, the Saint-Etienne club has also managed to launch a new generation of talented players out of their school.

They are: Arnaud Nordin (23 years old), Mahdi Camara (23 years old), Charles Abi (21 years old), Aïmen Moueffek (20 years old), Stephan Bajic (19 years old, goalkeeper), Étienne Green (20 years old, goalkeeper goal), or Lucas Douath-Gourna (17 years old). Not to mention William Saliba (20) and Wesley Fofana (20) transferred to Arsenal (in 2019) and Leicester City (in 2020) respectively. Most of these nuggets had won the Gambardella Cup together in 2019 against Toulouse FC.
