ASSE review
With an aborted end of the season, ASSE lost a lot financially in 2020. But the departure of Fofana completely changed the accounting result.

Fortunately, there is trading. With record sales for the Greens, from Saliba to Arsenal or more recently from Fofana to Leicester for nearly € 35 million. Without what, ASSE would have ended its 2020 financial year with an accounting deficit, whose reasons can be summed up here in a few words: Covid and its effects on the championship finally stopped, and mediocre sports results.

A 2020 season finally profitable thanks to trading

On the balance sheet therefore, Saint-Etienne ended its 2020 season with a slight profit, of 133,148 euros. Due, you will understand, to the sales of players, for a total and exact amount of transfer fees, of 43.919 million euros. Otherwise revenues have all declined from one year to the next. In 2020, AS Saint-Etienne generated a turnover from operational activity (therefore without trading) of 38,100,832 euros, almost half lower than the 2019 balance sheet.

Operating revenues which have fallen sharply for ASSE

The loss of earnings from unplayed matches and the sporting rankings of the Greens notably justify a significant drop in audiovisual rights, to 22.871 million in 2020, against 42 million a year earlier. In the last assessment, ticketing (and subscriptions included) brings in 5.3 million and commercial revenues, with sponsorship, 8.9 million. As of June 30, 2020, the Saint-Etienne club had 60 employees (excluding footballers and staff), including 7 executives and 53 employees.
