AS Saint-Etienne : Soccer. Oldest ASSE player turns 100 | ASSE News

On Saturday, Émile Robert, dean of ASSE players, celebrated his 100th birthday. For the occasion, Roland Romeyer and Loïc Perrin presented him with a jersey in the Cauldron on Tuesday and had a long discussion with him.

The native of Saint-Jeures (Haute-Loire), signed his first license with the Greens in 1938, first playing in the youth teams before joining the pro group in the early 1940s. Deported during the Second World War in 1943, he returned two years later to the Loire. The winger wore the colors of Rive-de-Gier and Saint-Chamond on his return. Today, he remains a loyal supporter of the Saint-Etienne club.

Before the health crisis, he was still a subscriber to the Henri-Point platform. And no doubt he can’t wait to get back to his favorite stadium …
