AS Saint-Etienne : his memories of the training center, Ruffier, Moulin, his situation … the former Vert Nathan Crémillieux confided | ASSE News

Zapping Goal! Football club ASSE: players at the end of their contract in 2021

Goal ! : Nathan, did you come back to live in Ardèche?

Nathan Crémillieux: Yes quite. I currently live with my parents in Guilherand-Granges.

You have been without a club since last summer. How do you keep morale up?

Of course, it’s never easy to go through this kind of situation. But it can be part of the life of a footballer. You have to be ready to be able to bounce back. I think it can be a step in my career. I take a lot of distance from the situation, especially with what is happening with the health crisis. Mentally, I continue to invest myself and to be concerned by my job, and what I want to do in life: to become a professional footballer. I still left the family home when I was 13. I have built a certain maturity for myself.

How do you maintain yourself physically?

I am fortunate to have a very good relationship with my first coach, who I had in Valencia when I was little. Thanks to him, I do specific training for the goals. Two to three times a week. And in addition, I do everything cardio, I keep going for a run. I try to keep myself at a good sporting level, to be ready for any eventuality.

“I’ll be honest, it’s true that I didn’t expect to be in this situation for so long. But the most important thing is to get out of it ”

Did you have contacts for a new challenge?

Yes of course, there have been contacts. But with the Covid, it is not easy. It complicated things quite a bit. I had to go to clubs, but because of the virus it didn’t happen. Afterwards, I’ll be honest, it’s true that I didn’t expect to be in this situation for so long. But the most important thing is to get out of it. What we will remember is not that I spent a year without a club, but the way I got up. In any case, I do everything for.

Have you had any leads before to leave ASSE?

In 2018, I had proposals. I had already understood at that time that it was complicated for me to continue at ASSE. I had expressed the wish to leave in order to continue my progress. Something that was not possible because the management refused. In the youth categories, when you are offered a trainee contract, you have to sign otherwise it is very complicated for the club, which has to put a lot of money aside. I was international at that time, and it’s true that I had some great tracks.

Professional clubs?

Yes, both in France and abroad.

Are you still in contact with the 2000 generation, with whom you played in the France U17 team?

Yes always. I have a very good relationship with Yacine Adli, with whom I talk very often. Even with Maxence Caqueret and Amine Gouiri. We still have very strong relationships. I’m happy for them that they managed to break through quickly in Ligue 1.

Are you in the optics of finding a professional club or rather to start again a little lower?

I have no special expectations. Today, I am looking for the best sports project. Something that can suit me and get me really into it. And have fun on the courts.

How did you find out that ASSE did not want to keep you?

We can already feel it in the season. Regarding the way we are managed, the playing time. Little by little, we get an idea about it. We can see it a little, but we still try to fight to keep our place.

“What I will remember the most in Sainté is that I have never lost a derby”

Have you paid for the strong competition with Stéphane Ruffier, Jessy Moulin and Stefan Bajic?

Personally, I have always liked the competition. I know that to stay at the highest level, you have to be better than everyone who is in front of you, and also those who are behind, to continue to be in front. I always liked it. This is what allows me to surpass myself on a daily basis, and to be better every day. Did that work against me at Saint-Étienne? I do not think so. There are other factors that we cannot control. But on the pitch, I have always taken this competition positively with very good goalkeepers. And I enjoyed being with them.

Has this competition allowed you to progress despite everything?

Yes, they are guardians who have a certain background, experience. Everyone differently. For example, Ruffier had a broader experience, even at the international level. They each had different parameters, so it was good to learn alongside them, to see how they were evolving on a daily basis and to take every detail, every positive point, to improve myself. But obviously, it’s always nice to evolve with good goalkeepers. Pushing your limits every day can only make you better.

What relationship did you have with Fabrice Grange?

I will abstain from any comments. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. We will remain silent. I have nothing to say about this person.

Do you regret not being able to sign a professional contract in your training club?

It’s always regrettable to do seven years and not to end with a professional contract. But I thank the club for everything it taught me. If they didn’t want to offer me a professional contract, that’s their choice. It’s up to me to show them that they were wrong about me. But I only retain the positive.

Which memory will you remember the most?

Even though I didn’t start, the Gambardella course was great. We had a group that was very homogeneous, we all got along very well, we felt a good dynamic. But what I will remember the most in Sainté is that I have never lost a derby. However, I played seven. These are games that are not easy to manage.

Which ASSE players are you still in contact with?

I still talk a lot with my two best friends at ASSE, Jordan Halaïmia and Charles Abi. Even with the youngest of the 2001-2002 generation group, with whom we were able to win the Gambardella. I kept very good contacts. Even with some people in the club, like those who take care of the equipment.

Who is the player who impressed you the most?

When I was at the training center, I was in the same room as Naïs Djouahra. Today it belongs to Real Sociedad. He had the chance to bounce back very well. Because of his lack of physique, he had been put aside a bit. But everyone knew he had something more than the rest.

“Jessy is very serious about everything he does. He is a goalkeeper who should be exemplified in football ”

Jérémie Janot was one of your idols …

When I was younger, and we went to the stadium, it was him that we saw. He was spectacular in the cages. Besides, I have a very good relationship with him. It’s always nice to talk about his feelings on the field, his experience … I use it a lot.

When you were younger, did you go to Geoffroy-Guichard?

Yes, I went there often. My first match, I still remember, was in 2011 against AS Monaco (note: 1-1). I had the choice between certain clubs when I was younger, but my choice was already on ASSE.

How do you see the Ruffier affair?

Honestly, I don’t know all the ins and outs of this business. To give my opinion on this, I would need to know more. There, I do not have enough criteria.

This affair finally benefited Jessy Moulin, who, at 35, was playing his first season as a holder …

It’s good for him. He is someone who is very deserving, a fighter. We see him on the pitch, he gives his life, his heart for the club. It is very beautiful to see him today keep the cages of ASSE. In training, he gave a lot. He has a very good mentality.

Jessy Moulin was born in Valence. You, in Guilherand-Granges, less than 5 kilometers away. Is this an example to follow?

Of course. Already in the mentality that he can have on a daily basis. He is a hard worker, who works a lot on the side. Jessy is very serious about everything he does. He is a goalkeeper who should be exemplified in football.
