AS Saint-Etienne : Ligue 1: Saint-Etienne wins in Angers thanks to a sumptuous goal from Khazri | ASSE News

The match: 0-1

Faced with a static Angers formation and without much ambition in the game, Saint-Étienne logically won at the Raymond-Kopa stadium on Saturday (0-1), thanks to a goal from Wahbi Khazri. Very little used this season by Claude Puel, the Tunisian has obtained all the chances of the Greens on his own who, thanks to this victory, move a little further from the relegation zone.

It was therefore necessary to wait for Khazri’s liberating goal in the 53rd minute of play to unleash this meeting which had until then been soporific, even bordering on boredom.

Borrowed, without imagination, the Angevins showed absolutely nothing throughout this meeting mastered by the Stéphanois. Unable to put a little madness in the match, Stéphane Moulin’s players missed their subject and bow for the seventh time this season at the Raymond-Kopa stadium.

It was the Greens who got the first opportunity of the match thanks to Khazri on a superb header, well diverted by Bernardoni, the Angevin goalkeeper (36th).

Wahbi Khazri, again, scored with a magnificent lobed strike. The Tunisian even doubled the bet (74th) with a new lob, but his goal was logically refused for an offside position. Even if they still occupy 16th place in the standings, the Greens now have three more points, precious in the race to maintain.

The player: Wahbi Khazri, the return of the outcast

His trainer, Claude Puel, no longer counted on him. This is the reason why the Tunisian has played very little this season. Only seven tenures, with today’s against Angers. This did not prevent Khazri from signaling himself and scoring this magnificent goal, on a strike lobbed outside the area which surprised goalkeeper Bernardoni.

Shortly before halftime, the Tunisian international already had a nice header which, this time, did not surprise the Angevin goalkeeper. The Tunisian also scored a second goal logically refused for an offside position (74th).

Khazri saved the Greens. What will Claude Puel decide from now on about his Tunisian international?
