ASSE got stronger in the last moments of the winter market on Monday. Claude Puel welcomed Pape Abou Cissé and Anthony Modeste to his team. The first is from Olympiakos (Greece), while the second is from FC Cologne in the Bundesliga. They are both on loan until the end of the current season. They were made official on Saturday January 30 and Monday February 1 respectively. The two Saint-Etienne recruits will be able to take part in the match against FC Nantes, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, this Wednesday (9 p.m.).

Coming on the edge, Pape Abou Cissé was unable to qualify for last Sunday’s meeting against OGC Nice. ASSE had nevertheless managed to return from the Alpes Maritimes with a victory (1-0). Remember that Sainté is among the worst defenses and worst attacks in Ligue 1 this season, with 35 conceded goals and 21 goals scored in 22 games. Claude Puel has certainly indicated that the two recruits are not “saviors”, but there is no doubt that they will strengthen two areas of play that need it.
