AS Saint-Etienne : Etienne – Nantes, 18 titles contemplate us | ASSE News

ASSE – 16th with 22 points

This season : Symbol that counts – a lot – for the supporters of Saint-Etienne: after Lyon’s crushing victory at Geoffroy-Guichard ten days ago (0-5), it is the first time since 1956 that the record of derbies has been dominated by the OL (see below). The Greens stretched until December a series of eleven games without a win, the worst for the club since 1996. At the heart of which Claude Puel’s men managed to lose seven times in a row (the club’s worst series, tied with 2008 ).

History: The Greens, who still hold the record for national titles in profits of the 60s and 70s that we know them, have not attended Ligue 2 since 2004. Their 17th place, last season, was the first out of the top 10 since 2010 (and another 17th place). This is of course the legacy of the trace left by coach Christophe Galtier, bringing back with the Coupe de la Ligue 2013 the first trophy in more than 30 years.

Nantes – 17th with 18 points

This season : The Canaries have consumed their 2nd trainer in the 21st century, it is the French record on the two professional divisions (and quite far, the second following at 17). Raymond Domenech is the first coach in club history to fail to win any of his first five games. Unable to win for thirteen meetings, current series, its players have the worst series of the championship as well as in the history of the FCN.

History: We remember more freshly the last time Nantes went to Ligue 2, since they did not come back for the last time until 2013. After having climbed up in 2008, only remaining one season in L2, their final passage in the anteroom then lasted four years. What would suggest that the FCN would be more inclined to bounce back in the event of another disaster? As for ASSE or Lens more recently, the enthusiasm of the supporters remained unfailing in any case.
