AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE: Debuchy has zero offers, but doesn’t cry | ASSE News

At the end of his contract at AS Saint-Etienne, Mathieu Debuchy does not want to take the lead at the start of what could be the last months of his career.

Considering his long career, Mathieu Debuchy is not the type to take the lead while Roland Romeyer and Bernard Caïazzo have not offered him anything concerning the rest of his stay in Saint-Etienne. But at 36, it’s obvious that the ASSE defender is on the way out, even if it’s not his first wish. Admitting this Tuesday in Le Progrès that he had not started a dialogue with his leaders, while his contract ends in six months, Mathieu Debuchy considers that it is useless to complain and that the main thing for him was to take advantage of the last few months with the Greens, before perhaps thinking of putting away. Far from being bitter, the Habs international knows it’s part of the game.

Debuchy does not take the lead with AS Saint-Etienne

In the regional daily, Mathieu Debuchy does not speak in the language of wood. ” So far, I haven’t had any discussions with the club. I feel very good here, I love this club and this city (…) I feel very good in Saint-Étienne. We may or may not make a point. But I want to take advantage of the last five months to the fullest, to move up the rankings and have some positive results. This is a club that has to be higher. I don’t have to worry about my future. (…) Now I’m going to be 36 this summer. There are other goals. I try to enjoy my job day by day because you know very well that from a certain age, it is more difficult to find clubs. I think of my friend Yohan Cabaye. I am fortunate enough to be able to play football at a big club for another five months, in L1. I take advantage of it “Said the AS Saint-Etienne defender, determined to leave the Greens at the top of the table next June.
