AS Saint-Etienne : In Ligue 1, Saint-Etienne misses the boat against Nîmes (2-2) | ASSE News

Saint-Etienne failed to give air in the fight for maintenance by conceding against Nîmes (2-2) a new draw, the fourth in five games, without confirming the victory obtained Wednesday in Bordeaux .

At the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, the Greens quickly led 1-0 thanks to Harold Moukoudi (8th) before losing control of the match when the “Crocs” led thanks to Mattéo Ahlinvi (14th) and a penalty from Renaud Ripart (56th ). And since Arnaud Nordin (63rd) brought Saint-Etienne up to par, the Nîmes put an end to a series of four defeats in a row but stagnated at the bottom of the table (provisional 18th place).

For their part, the Stéphanois, 14th with five points ahead of their opponent of the day, have not lost for five games but with four draws in this sequence, they are not moving quickly. Moukoudi opened the scoring by taking a header from a corner played by Ryad Boudebouz from the 8th minute, validating a good start for ASSE but an opportunity missed by Wahbi Khazri, alone in front of the empty goal, made the Greens lose control of the match (10th).
Khazri then made an error which allowed Mattéo Ahlinvi to equalize (1-1, 14th) before Saint-Etienne missed a penalty by Ryad Boudebouz whose attempt was rejected by Nîmes goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet (36th).

In the second half, the Crocodiles took the advantage on a penalty converted by Renaud Ripart and awarded for a foul by Moukoudi on Sofiane Alakouch (56th). But the Stéphanois, dominating, nevertheless managed to return to equality with a goal from Nordin who scored from the left, well served by a discount from Adil Aouchiche (63). The Greens can once again feed the regrets of not having been strong enough, nor sufficiently clear-sighted in the decision-making zone.
