AS Saint-Etienne : Two offensive avenues explored in Switzerland | ASSE News

TheASSE is always looking for a striker to strengthen offensively. After the failure of M’Baye Niang’s loan, recruiters from AS Saint-Étienne are prospecting in Switzerland.

ASSE closely follows Aiyegun Tosin and Arthur Cabral

Broken offensively at the start of the season, ASSE had thought of M’Baye Niang, but the transfer of the striker from Stade Rennais was aborted. Still thinking of strengthening in attack, Claude Puel probes two players playing in Switzerland according to information from le10 sport.com. If this source is to be believed, the AS Saint-Étienne recruiting unit supervised Aiyegun Tosin (22 years old) and Arthur Cabral (22 years old), at the end of last September. The first is a Nigerian right winger under contract with the FC Zurich until June 2024. As for the second, he is a Brazilian center-forward linked to FC Basel until June 2023. Tosin is worth less than 2 million euros, while Cabral’s market value is estimated at 6 million euros. The latter is therefore a priori inaccessible to ASSE, whose general manager no longer wishes to invest more than 5 million euros in a single player.

AS Saint-Étienne on a negative series

Remember that the team of Claude Puel is in great difficulty in Ligue 1. After nine days, it is in 13th place with ten points garnered out of 27 possible, 13 goals conceded and 9 scored. The Loire club is on a negative series of five defeats and is therefore threatened with relegation, as the former captain of AS Saint-Etienne, Loïc Perrin, explained on Monday. Indeed, ASSE has only two small points more than Nîmes Olympique, which is a play-off, and four points more than the first relegation, RC Strasbourg. The Greens will travel to the lawn of Groupama Stadium on Sunday evening to face OL before going to Brest next weekend.
