AS Saint-Etienne : Stéphane’s notes after OL-ASSE: Neyou supercharged, Moukoudi exceeded | ASSE News

Jessy Moulin: 5

His parade against Houssem Aouar completely changed the first period, since the Greens opened the scoring in stride. But the Saint Etienne goalkeeper stepped aside and covered his post very badly on Kadewere’s second goal. An error which is expensive and which will make forget his two other stops against Toko-Ekambi, in particular.

The cheat sheet: And finally, Garcia grew up

  • In short: A mistake similar to that of Lopes, with different consequences.

Mahdi Camara: 4

Close to opening the scoring from the start of the game, the replaced right-back midfielder did the job for a long time in his right lane, rarely being endangered by Depay or Cornet. Aggressive, he sprang up several times and sometimes thrown himself. But he was completely taken by Kadewere on Lyon’s second goal, which tarnished his performance. It is a few centimeters to take a free kick in the last seconds …

  • In short: A somewhat naive intervention that is expensive.

Harold Moukoudi: 3

His loss of the ball could have cost the Greens dearly in the first half, if Moulin had not won his duel against Aouar. Still caught up in the action that brought the Toko-Ekambi post, he was then dropped by Kadewere for Lyon’s second goal. A succession of mistakes that ended up paying off.

  • In short: The weak point of Stéphanois on Sunday.

Timothy Kolodziejczak: 5

Not particularly solicited in the first period in his area, the left-hander was able to shoot very high when needed, even bringing an opportunity for the Greens after a great intervention. Even though it was sometimes too easily erased like on a Depay hook, overall it got the job done.

Miguel Trauco: 5

He used the necessary aggressiveness to limit the impact of Toko-Ekambi and Dubois in his hallway. The Peruvian did not hesitate to project himself from time to time, especially on the opener, where he served Bouanga with one touch. His left paw was invaluable on some set pieces or reversals of play. But he is too passive on the equalizer, where Kadewere passes behind his back.

  • In short: Present in the game, but taken from a set piece.

Zaydou Youssouf: 6

Positioned in the right lane of Claude Puel’s 4-4-2 (or 4-2-3-1), the former Bordelais worked well defensively, recovering some very low balls. Ball in the foot, he proved invaluable in the conversation, including getting four fouls. He was also one of the most enterprising players in the long game, notably with a good cross for Abi. Replaced by Rivera (79th).

  • In short: A left paw that did good.

Yvan Neyou: 7

Without a doubt the man of the match among all the starters. With five tackles and four interceptions in the first half alone, the defensive midfielder was ubiquitous in the middle. Impeccable in his recovery work, he also showed the extent of his paddle in the ball exits and even created a great opportunity, on a long shot.

  • In short: Very little waste and such a valuable activity.

Lucas Gourna: 4

For his first start as a pro, the 17-year-old midfielder responded in the impact, especially in the first half. Gourna formed an effective pair with Neyou but at times showed herself to the limit in the engagement. He notably caused miseries to Depay by his harassment and little by little made a series of faults, including the one which brought the Lyon equalizer. Replaced by Moueffek (79th).

  • In short: His slowdown after the recovery was felt.

Adil Aouchiche: 6

His good free kick from the start, for the header of Camara, set the tone for Saint-Etienne’s performance. Very serious in defending in his left lane, he was also interesting with his availability between the lines and his ability to keep the ball in small perimeters. Replaced by Hamouma (67th).

  • In short: The potential of a technical leader.

Denis Bouanga: 5

His hard work defensive was accompanied by a real contribution in the last 30 meters. After several clear chances, he did almost everything in the opener, until he fouled Lopes with his tense cross from the left. But he spoils his performance by missing a penalty at the very end of the game, which would have done so much good for his people.

  • In short: Eternal regrets.

Charles Abi: 5

In the duel with the Denayer-Diomandé hinge, the great striker of the Greens was sometimes heckled. But he did good with his head game and some back-to-goal conservations. His winning header in the first period was logically refused for a foul. He was much more neutral when he got back from the locker room. Replaced by Khazri (75th).

  • In short: His first period would have deserved better.
