AS Saint-Etienne : Offensive festival for ASSE, racist insults dot the U19 National match | ASSE News

The Greens logically dominated the debates this morning against Pieve di Lota. But this meeting of the 7th day of the U19 National championship was peppered with racist insults.

The meeting between Saint-Etienne and Pieve di Lota did not come to an end. Opposed to Pieve Di Lota, the Corsican promoted, the young people of Jean-Luc Dogon took place by logically leading 6-0 at the break. Just before the end of the first period, the Saint-Etienne captain tackles a player from Pieve di Lota. The referee then decides to expel Ahmed Sidibé, a severe decision for some observers. “It got tense at that point”, describes Sébastien Lusetti, coach of the young Corsican. “I heard insults erupting when I got close to my injured player”, he continues.

Halftime came at the right time to calm the spirits. And that was the case with a second half as the start of the match. The ASSE players weighed down the score twice again through Marwan Ouroui and Yanis Lhéry who offered themselves a hat-trick. But with five minutes remaining, the three-time ASSE goalscorer complains of racist slurs by his opponent. The central referee, warned by his assistant, issued the red card against the Corsican player who had also received racist insults upstream. It was in the confusion that the referee ended the game around the 88th minute, the Corsican club having refused to resume. “The two coaches wanted to finish the match but it was the Corsican players who refused”, says one on the side of the Saint-Etienne club. The match noted as “Stopped” on the scoresheet, the result (8-0) is therefore unofficial. The Disciplinary Committee will meet to shed light on the facts before a decision is taken on the outcome of this match.

The word to Sébastien Lusetti, coach of Pieve di Lota

“We are awaiting the report from the central referee. To get to the point, I have a Muslim player who was allegedly called a “dirty Arab” and he replied. The assistant referee only heard my player’s words and warned the center referee. The expulsion is logical, but my players have of course heard from both sides. In support of their teammate, they decided not to resume the game where they left off until the end of the game. It’s unfortunate to have seen that at the end of the game because otherwise the game went rather well “, deplores Sébastien Lusetti.

In terms of sport

“Obviously the result is still heavy … Our job is to resist as long as possible against these teams but we still get through our first period by taking three goals in fifteen minutes. We are not playing, we are not focused. We’re in Game 6 and what bothers me is that. I spent half time screaming and it had an effect because we were better in the second half. We are perhaps too much in awe of our opponents. We have to start our games with a lot more focus. Our goal is that in December we close the gap by taking fewer goals and especially by playing like last year “, explains the Corsican coach.

When contacted, the AS Saint-Etienne club indicated that they would reserve their arguments for the Disciplinary Commission, which will be seized. “We will also make available the images of the match which was filmed”, specifies the club of the Loire.
