With the Valère Germain (OM) track closed, FC Nantes has not given up on recruiting an attacker a few days before the end of the Mercato. In recent hours, the name of Wahbi Khazri (29), disgraced at ASSE under Claude Puel, has been mentioned. It must be said that the Tunisian, who refused to join the Qatari club of Al-Khor, is still on the market.
Khazri is almost twice the Canaries’ biggest salary
On this file, there are however some concerns that can seem insurmountable at FC Nantes. As David Phelippeau (20 Minutes) recalled in the podcast on the news of the Canaries “Without control”, Wahbi Khazri is very expensive in salary. To be precise, the former Sunderland player is earning nearly € 300,000 per month over the last two years of his contract with Forez. A salary, almost equivalent to that of Valère Germain at OM, which is more than twice the highest salary in the Nantes locker room.
Complicated, the deal is not completely impossible. First because, unlike Valère Germain, Khazri wants to leave Saint-Etienne. If he rather favors his few Spanish touches, the native of Ajaccio knows that his time to find a way out is running out. It is also possible that ASSE, to save some money, agrees to give it up as a loan with payment of part of the salary. A solution as a last resort for the Greens which requires the FCN to play the clock to have a (tiny) chance of concluding the case.
