The case of too small goals has caused a lot of reaction since last night. Raon was unable to play his match against Epernay because the visitors’ goalkeeper deemed the goals too small. The referee checked and he was indeed several centimeters missing. Raon l’Etape’s club made a point of reacting on Sunday, recalling that the club had received Bordeaux, St Etienne or Lille with these same goals without anyone coming to say anything.

US Raon press release

The U.S. RAON and the Raonnaise Municipality have always been one and will continue to be one!

Indeed, our municipality has always done what is necessary to ensure that sports facilities meet federal standards. Few cities the size of Raon-l’Etape provide their clubs with such facilities.

A specialized company is responsible for renovating and bringing the playing surface of the Paul Gasser stadium into conformity. What happened late in the afternoon yesterday is a total misunderstanding.

This stadium, these goals have seen a significant number of matches and sometimes prestigious teams. The Girondins de Bordeaux came twice in 2013 and 2014, AS Saint-Etienne in 2016, and Lille OSC in January 2020! No one had found fault with it.

Obviously we are not going to hang around.

We will wait until we have all the elements in our possession before taking action. In this particular context, our good faith cannot be called into question.

We also thank all our supporters for their understanding!

Thank you also for the many messages of support that we have received since last night!

Thank you to our sponsors who were quick to show their confidence in us.

We cannot conclude this message without supporting our players, our staff and our volunteers. They were hard at work from 8am this Saturday to implement the heavy, but important, health protocol. They work hard every day to play on Saturday and exist in this National 3 championship.

We will get back to you as soon as we have any information.

We will fight one more battle at the dawn of our centenary, this is not the first, it will not be the last.

Hoping that common sense wins!
