AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE missed a nice shot in defense | ASSE News

ASSE management were very close to signing young left-back Michal Karbownik during the final hours of the transfer window.

In search of reinforcement on the left flank of the defense, the leaders of Saint-Etienne had made great progress in the case of Legia Warsaw full-back Michal Karbownik on Monday. According to information from theTeam, the 19-year-old was due to sign up with AS Saint-Etienne in the form of a buyout loan. The Polish left-back had given his approval to the Forez club and Legia Warsaw only needed to be convinced but things did not go as planned for the Stéphanois.

Brighton convinced the Poles

Saint-Etienne could not meet the demands of the Polish leaders who wanted cash quickly. In the meantime, the Brighton club has entered this dossier. The British offered 5 million euros, half of which is payable immediately. It did not take more negotiations for Legia Warsaw officials to accept the Premier League training offer.

Panagiotis Retsos, the only satisfaction

Not having completed their recruitment, the leaders of ASSE had given a big boost to several files in addition to that of Michal Karbownik a few hours before the closing of the summer transfer window. William Saliba (Arsenal), Mbaye Niang (Rennes) and Panagiotis Retsos (Leverkusen) were all close to joining the Greens. Only the latter city signed on loan Monday night, although negotiations are still continuing with the Breton club for the Senegalese center forward who could be the joker of “Sainté”.
