AS Saint-Etienne : no prosecution against the perpetrators of a hazing at the training center | ASSE News

No complaint was lodged by the civilly responsible in agreement with their children (note: aged 14 and 15 years) ”, at the end of the investigation of gendarmerie, specified the public prosecutor of Saint-Etienne, David Charmatz.

While the Stéphanois club had previously indicated that the improvised hazing, during which the young residents were beaten with sticks by three of their elders, also minors, had occurred on the evening of July 24, shortly after the final of the Coupe de France lost by ASSE (1-0) against Paris Saint-Germain, the prosecution indicated that “the facts occurred in July 2020 on a date which has remained unclear”.

He underlined that the management of ASSE had “taken disciplinary sanctions by breaking the training agreement in advance for two of the accused who have therefore now returned to their department of origin (Seine-Saint-Denis), the third was the subject of a temporary layoff of 15 days ”.

The prosecutor considered that the disciplinary sanction of the two excluded had “constituted a sufficient response”.
“The third who joined the ranks of the trainees at the end of his sanction will be summoned before a delegate of the prosecutor specializing in minors to be notified, at the courthouse, a solemn reminder to the law”, continued the head of the Stéphanois prosecution.
