AS Saint-Etienne : 2 Senegalese, 1 Guinean… Fofana sold, Saint-Etienne turns to Africans | ASSE News

After selling his nugget Wesley Fofana for 40 million euros to Leicester, AS Saint-Etienne are looking to several African players to strengthen themselves as center-back.

Among the avenues studied, there are indeed, among others, the two Senegalese from Olympiakos, Pape Abou Cissé (25 years old, photo), who however seems too expensive given the envelope of 6-7 M € available to the Greens, and Ousseynou Ba (24 years old), whose price seems more affordable. Croatian Filip Benkovic (Leicester) and French Under-21 international Malang Sarr (Chelsea) complete the shortlist for this position.

In a longer term vision, ASSE announced on Wednesday that Saïdou Sow (18) has signed his first three-year professional contract. Recently called for the first time in selection with Guinea, the central defender has already appeared several times in the Stéphanois group in Ligue 1 and he hopes to celebrate his first minutes in the first team soon. Along with Kolodziejczak and Cameroonian Moukoudi, Sow is currently the only professional central defender present in the professional group.
