THE twenty Ligue 1 squads are worth more than 3 billion euros in the transfer market.
This time it’s off again. After months of forced inactivity, the French elite footballers have resumed official competition for the majority of them, with the start of the 2020-21 season, run this weekend. Between the upheavals of the calendar and the epic of PSG and OL in the Champions League, we missed the opportunity to observe the forces present in Ligue 1, on the basis of the market value of the workforce, on the transfer window.
PSG in the lead, Stade Rennais, OGCN, FCGB and ASSE close to average
This, taking as a basis, the figures of the specialized platform, Transfermarkt. Cumulated, the professional collectives of the championship weigh 3.22 billion euros, of which about a quarter, for Paris Saint-Germain alone. This comes to an average of 161 million euros per club, in a lower zone at Stade Rennais and OGC Nice and higher on the contrary, at the Girondins de Bordeaux and at AS Saint-Etienne.
LOSC is valued more expensive than OM at the start of the season
A few peculiarities emerge from this classification. In particular that OM, runner-up to PSG last season, has “only” the fifth most expensive group, behind rivals Paris, Lyon, Monaco and LOSC too. At the bottom of the ranking, the promoted Lorient brings up the rear, but RC Lens is higher, thanks to an active recruitment campaign, to stay in Ligue 1. The Hakes also have with Adrian Grbic, the most expensive transfer in their history, at € 9m.

These valuations were measured on August 25, they can still change significantly depending on the operations that will be played out, as the transfer window reopened in France on August 15 and ended definitively on the evening of October 5.
