ASSSE won today against FC Lorient, 2-0, in their first league meeting of the season. Like after every game, here are the ratings we decided to give to the players.
The notes
Jessy Moulin (6.5): Serious on his line, he didn’t have much to do except for a nice outing at Wissa’s feet. He constantly seeks to create play and seek the best solutions. Good game.
Mathieu Debuchy (6.5): The Saint-Etienne captain had a solid match on his right side. Rarely lacking defensively, he tried to add as much as he could offensively. His status as a soldier was once again confirmed.
Wesley Fofana (6): Little seen defensively, he made some good interventions but was not as ubiquitous as he is accustomed to. Some avoidable faults too. Can do better.
Timothée Kolodziejczak (6.5): Kolo’s Mexican lookalike seems to have left where he came from and that’s good. A good game punctuated by a nice recovery on the second goal. Encouraging.
Yvann Maçon (5.5): Playing in a position that is not his, the young full-back sometimes has risky placements but has done quite well overall. He’s helping out on the left, doing his best, and it’s already good. We are not going to ask too much of him when he finds out about this position.
Mahdi Camara (5.5): Camara did Camara. Good in duels and interceptions, he still had a little more trouble with the ball in his foot. However, is that what we are asking him for now? Not sure. A decent game that could have been punctuated by a goal if Nardi hadn’t deflected his shot from the outside of the foot at the start of the second half.
Yvan Neyou (6): Technically good, he takes risks and takes them on. Sometimes it goes, other times it doesn’t, but once again it’s a satisfying performance for a player who is barely discovering the top level. However, he must be careful with the level of faults because he was sometimes late.
Denis Bouanga (4.5): Continuing on from his pre-season, too average given what he gave us a glimpse of last season. His change of status (from rookie to squad) has not been successful for him yet. We will have to pull ourselves together.
Adil Aouchiche (6): For a first official match with the Greens, it was not too bad. He doesn’t hide or hesitate to ask for the ball but sometimes pushes it too much. He will have to refine his game later, but he has time for that. He too could have scored a goal but Nardi decided otherwise.
Arnaud Nordin (7): Two assists, activity, he often got the better of his opponents and showed that he could be counted on. This good first game will have to be confirmed later, but if he continues like this he will have an important place in Puel’s eleven. Bravo Arnaud!
Romain Hamouma (8): The best Saint-Etienne of this match. He was good at everything he did: catches, passing, hitting, dribbling, breaking. Hamouma as we would like to see every weekend. He came out visibly a little touched, let’s hope he was okay because unfortunately this is the recurring problem in his career. But for these two pretty goals, he deserves the tributes.
The substitutes: Among the entrants, only Maxence Rivera stood out with his good intentions and his technical quality. Regarding M’Vila and Monnet-Paquet, they didn’t really weigh in and were content with simple things. Diousse only played a few minutes, as did Krasso, who was unsuccessful in all of his decisions.
