The group of supporters of theASSE, the Green Angels 1992, have decided to boycott the resumption of the championship, until further notice. This, because of the barrier measures deemed incompatible with their way of supporting their team at Geoffroy-Guichard.
ASSE: Green Angels declare Kop Sud closed
ASSE will not be able to benefit from the support of the Green Angels at the start of the 2020-2021 season. The group of supporters of the Greens said, in an official press release, that he will not be traveling to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium for the time being. The Kop Sud du Chaudron, a stand housing the said group, will thus be closed, due to the decision of the LFP competition commission, which imposes very restrictive measures. Among others: the limitation of the number of places, the wearing of the obligatory mask, the seated places only, the nominative places and the distance between the spectators. “Under these conditions, it seems impossible to us to go to the stadium, in order to support the Greens. We understand the obligation of physical distancing, but it is incompatible with our popular mode of supporterism, ”explained the group of supporters of theAS Saint-Etienne. The Green Angels specify that “the Kop Sud will remain completely closed, as long as a return to the stadium is not possible”. These green people have also decided not to move across France as they usually do. This, in agreement with the management of their club.
The Green Angels: “A virus will not extinguish our flame”
In conclusion, the 1992 GA reiterated their love for ASSE, which they say has never been affected, even in the most difficult times in the history of their core team. “So it is not a virus that will extinguish the flame that has animated us since 1992”, reassured the Green Angels. Note that ASSE’s first Ligue 1 match against OM has been postponed to September 17. It was initially scheduled for this Friday, August 21, at the Vélodrome, opening day one of the championship.
