Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) won in the 1st of 5 stages of the 72nd edition of the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Egan Bernal (INEOS) complete the podium of the longest stage of the week, between Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Christo-en-Jarez (218.5 km). On Thursday, the riders will start from Vienna.
The last 4 stages, the most difficult, remain identical to the 1st route of the event (modified due to the health crisis) until the arrival on August 16 in Megève (Haute-Savoie). The organizing company (ASO), also at the head of the Tour de France, announced that it was “obviously on the health instructions in force”. Wearing a mask will be compulsory at the start and finish of runners.
