PSG and ASSE cross swords this Friday in the final of the 103rd edition of the Coupe de France.
After a four and a half month hiatus, competitive football resumed in France. This Friday, PSG and ASSE face off against the Stade de France in the Cup final. In front of around 5,000 spectators, the two teams will try to conquer this trophy, but also to give a good image and revive everything that makes the beauty of this sport. It will be a great way to turn the page on Covid-19 for good and to project enthusiastically into the 2020/2021 season.
Champion of France, PSG will of course be the favorite of this meeting. Thomas Tuchel’s men do not intend to settle for just one title this season, and they will be as keen to conquer this Cup as they will fail in the final in this competition (against Rennes, in 2019). Neymar and his partners will therefore be looking for redemption, and the remarks made during the pre-match show great determination among the Parisians.
ASSE believes in achievement
For Paris, the evening duel will only be the first stop in the grand slam the team is aiming for. In a week, the Parisians challenge Lyon in the Coupe de la Ligue. And then it will be Final 8 of the Champions League. For Mbappé and others, the danger would clearly be to think too much about the rest. However, given the dedication and seriousness they displayed during the warm-up matches, there is nothing to be too worried about about this.
On the Stéphanois side, we approach this final in a different state of mind, but with the same desire to win. Claude Puel’s Greens know that their chances of creating a sensation are reduced. However, they hear them playing hard, and performing without complex. The role of outsider can sometimes be interesting to take on. And it is not the Rennais who will contradict this thesis.
