Families play, that of ASSE is changing. Like a game of seven, L’Equipe this Friday was doing a workforce review in Saint-Etienne, pointing the players that coach Claude Puel would not want to keep. Without pushing them towards the exit; apart from Stéphane Ruffier, a more complex case than the rest, the others will be no more sold out than retained if there is sufficient supply.

Who are the seven concerned, what are they worth on the transfer market, and what savings can the club expect by ceding their contracts? Naturally, the figures differ from one another, depending on the position held, the level of play produced during the season and the next or more distant expiration of the contract. Cumulated, the players below exceed 40 million euros in valuation on the transfer window. But possibly less in this post-coronavirus period, with clubs all economically affected. ASSE would be one of the most concerned clubs in Ligue 1.

Beyond the potential return on transfer compensation, there is also the possible savings on player contracts. Especially the longest, from Kolodziejczak, since the option to buy 4.5 million euros would be exercised on it and the right side, Sergi Palencia. In this list, Wahbi Khazri has the most interesting profile on two counts: on the one hand he is the most bankable of the seven, estimated at 12.5 million euros, and on the other hand, he earns nearly 210,000 gross monthly euros without bonuses, with a contract signed until 2022. Khazri is with M’Vila, the highest paid player of the Greens this season. The departure of one or the other would relieve an overwhelming payroll and worsen the club’s deficit at the end of this season. The time is now for the economy in Saint-Etienne, without either pouring into the catastrophism of an upcoming bankruptcy. Leaders claim otherwise and threaten to sue those who doubt it.
