Here is a fact, if it were to be confirmed, which could still cause great turmoil between Lyon and Saint-Etienne, the two historic rivals.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has made it clear that August 3 serves as the cut-off date for completing all national competitions.
Consequently, the final of the Coupe de France between Saint-Etienne and Paris SG, which could be rescheduled around August 8, would result in non-qualification for the ASSE European Cup in the event of victory. There is no doubt that the Greens would then experience this as a real injustice.
Especially if Lyon won the League Cup against these same Parisians, it should qualify for the Europa League since the final could be disputed on July 25. Or two weeks before.
