Transfers

FC Metz sent an offer of 3 M € to enlist AS Saint-Etienne striker Vagner, loaned this season to Nancy (L2). Six other clubs, including four from L1, want it too.

Returning from a second loan to AS Nancy-Lorraine (L2), striker Vagner Dias Gonçalves (24) could once again not drag on at AS Saint-Étienne. The Cape Verdean international (1 selection) had prematurely ended his season, on November 29, due to a dislocation in an ankle and a fibula fracture which occurred during Nancy-Paris FC (2-0 ). Before his injury, Vagner had performed, scoring 8 goals and delivering 3 assists in 18 games (all competitions).

His efficiency as well as his versatility – he is able to occupy the three positions of the attack – have attracted the eye of many clubs. Two of which are from Ligue 2: Nancy, who wants to keep him, but also Troyes, where Laurent Batlles, his former trainer with the ASSE reserve team, officiates.

Brest and Nîmes in the race

But they will have trouble convincing Vagner. Because five teams in Ligue 1 have already positioned themselves. Starting with Brest, which would have offered € 1.5 million. Refuse. Nîmes also entered the race and above all, FC Metz. The garnet club would have proposed a global envelope of 3 M € for a player who has one year of contract in Saint-Etienne.

The Greens are therefore taking advantage of the demand to raise the stakes. Claude Puel, the Stéphane coach, not having vetoed his sale, Saint-Étienne hopes to recover 4 M € in the operation.
