People tested positive in ASSE at COVID-19 are not subject to any containment measure by the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regional Health Agency. The 3 players concerned resumed normal training this Saturday.

The ARS has indeed concluded that “old forms of COVID with persistence of the presence of the genome at the level of nasopharyngeal samples” while referring to “no risk of contagiousness”. “This interpretation of the test results confirms the first conclusions of the AS Saint-Etienne medical service for which the six positive cases (five Thursday, one this Friday) did not cause any concern,” said ASSE in a press release. The club doctor was convinced that the positive PCR tests, associated with positive serologies, revealed “old forms of COVID with non-active residues of the virus”.

As stated in the press release from the Loire Prefecture published this Friday evening, the ARS decision was motivated by the results of the tests but also by the procedures implemented by the club. A charter specifying the common rules of life on the site was even signed by all of the players. Finally, “physical distancing measures, with the obligation to wear a mask and respect for barrier gestures, will continue to be imposed, until further notice, on anyone entering the Robert-Herbin Sports Center”, concludes the club .
