AS Saint-Etienne : Puel’s plans for next season | ASSE News

General Manager ofASSE, Claude Puel does have a plan to build his team next season. The major clean-up announced last winter should be carried out during the summer transfer window.

ASSE: Puel and Thuilot left for the big degreasing

TheASSE must do everything to bounce back next season, after the difficult 2019-2020 fiscal year which is not yet completed. As announced, Claude Puel will part with unwanted players and those who have proven to be flops. Put on the market during the winter transfer window, Loïs Diony had not found a buyer. The unsuccessful attacker will be returned to the market.

The Assane Diousse flop too, but also Stéphane Ruffier who no longer fits into the coach’s plans. If the goalkeeper, in conflict with the Stéphane coach, finds his footing this summer, ASSE will not retain him, especially since his contract expires in June 2021.

A nice shot with Bouanga, Khazri or Boudebouz?

To remain faithful to the club’s policy, Claude Puel and Xavier Thuilot (general manager) could try to beat up players whose market value is increasing. As they had done for Ole Selnaes and Ckeikh Mbengue (€ 10 million), Rémy Cabella (€ 12 million) and William Saliba (€ 30 million), Greens officials would be attentive to proposals for Denis Bouanga, Wahbi Khazri, Ryad Boudebouz or Yann M’Vila. The sale of one or two of its key players (depending on the offers) could bail out Saint-Étienne’s coffers.

Embodying the future of ASSE, Wesley Fofana and Charles Abi (extended this week), Zaydou Youssouf and Mahdi Camara will not be on the market. However, a Saliba operation (sold and loaned in the process) is not excluded for them.

What fate for Monnet-Paquet, Hamouma and Debuchy?

Regarding Kévin Monnet-Paquet (31), Romain Hamouma (33) and Mathieu Debuchy (34), they only have one year contract with ASSE. Claude Puel would not make an interesting sale with them, given their advanced age. Their extension would also not be in the latter’s plans. They should therefore complete their contract in June 2021. Armed with their experience, there is no doubt that they will be of considerable help for the group from Stéphane.

At the end of the lease this summer, Léo Lacroix and Yohan Cabaye will leave freely, Jean-Eudes Aholou will find AS Monaco who had loaned it to ASSE. As for the captain Loïc Perrin, he may well retire.
