ASSE finances

Financial lines in the red: this is rare at AS Saint-Etienne.

Stop for the Greens. It’s not trivial, it concerns the finances of ASSE, in the balance sheet for this 2019-20 season, they will be according to information from The Team, in operating deficit, close to 14 million euros. Saint-Etienne being one of the most virtuous clubs in the championship, this inevitably points to the consequences of a rotten season for the club, sportingly until the forced stoppage of debates, on a 17th place final in Ligue 1.

ASSE should show a deficit of 14 M € in the 2020 balance sheet

The eighth had been budgeted, this difference largely justifies the losses at the end of the financial year. As we saw on Thursday, its 2019-20 season will bring AS Saint-Etienne 31.6 million euros. It is about fifteen million euros less than the previous year, concluded fourth in the French championship. For nine years, on each balance sheet, the club from Stéphane has presented positive accounts. Never big profits, enough however for the cumulative last ten seasons, the club to be positive like others on its plateau, which nevertheless remain a minority.

Insufficient sports results and health crisis justify the losses

Last season 2018-19, the Stéphanois had generated nearly 75 million euros in operating revenue, excluding player trading. Despite a brief campaign in the Europa League ended in the group stage, this will decrease in 2020, under the double effect of the sports failure of the men of Claude Puel and Ghislain Printant before him, and the coronavirus crisis.
