On Thursday, the Mediapart site published a worrying article on the financial situation of Ligue 1 clubs following the coronavirus crisis (see here). While the media implied that AS Saint-Etienne could be one of the four clubs with a deficit of more than 50 million euros at the end of the current financial year, the Greens carried out a development this Friday.
“AS Saint-tienne categorically denies the information published by certain media concerning its financial situation which remains under control despite the crisis, which our accounting experts can also demonstrate, assured ASSE in a press release, before threatening : “This false information seriously harms the club which intends to file a complaint to protect its interests.”
A development in line with that of the LFP which had deplored a little earlier “untruths relating to the ELP (the loan guaranteed by the State)” contained in the article in question and filed a complaint (see the news at 11.50am).
