ASSE sees the maintenance of its female section in Division 2 as a sanction from the French Football Federation.
ASSE: Jean-Marc Barsotti evokes an injustice
ASSE does not approve of the FFF’s decision which penalizes its female team maintained in D2, following the final cessation of the championship. Having seized the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, the club evokes a punishment from the Federation.
“ We are in a situation all the more unjust since our last match at Yzeure was postponed for extremely questionable reasons “, Said Jean-Marc Barsotti, President of the ASSE association, on the club’s website.
It should be noted that Saint-Étienne was 2nd in Pool B with 37 points, with one game less, behind Le Havre AC, leader with 40 points. The Norman club was however admitted in D1 by the FFF, unlike Stéphanoises failed in D2.

Finally, the Greens said that “it is their entire project to develop women’s football that is called into question for 0.04 point”. “ASSE has its place in D1,” they said.
